Track II - Egreregious Behavioral Issues

PLA has zero-tolerance for behaviors that are harmful or that pose a major disruption to the learning environment.  As such, scholars who engage in such behaviors will be immediately sent to the Office, the scholar's parents will be contacted and the child will be subject to out-of-class penalties.

Scholars will face the following consequences based upon the number of times that the scholar receives an office referral for a Level II behavior.

Office Referral consequences:

• First Office Referral:

  • 1-Day In-School Suspension (If the incident occurs before noon, ISS will be the remainder of that day; if the incident occurs after noon, ISS will be the remainder of that day and the following day.)

  • Parents Called

  • Parents Asked to Come and Observe Behavior

• Second Office Referral:

  • 2-Day In-School Suspension

  • Parents Called

  • Referred to RTI Team (The RTI Team is a group of Teachers, Administrators and support staff who meet to discuss behavioral and academic interventions to support scholars.)

• Third Office Referral:

  • 3-Day In-School Suspension

  • Parents Called

  • Referral to Gallahue Services (Gallahue Services is a school-based counseling service that provides individual and group therapy as well as classroom support when needed.)

• Fourth Office Referral:

  • 5-Day Out-of-School Suspension

  • Expulsion OR Referral to Reach for Youth (​Reach for Youth is a program designed to provide behavioral counseling and interventions as an alternative to expulsion from school.)
